My sweet doll-sewing friend, Liana, gifted me this fun pattern and I just happened to have the perfect fabric to stitch it in! Julie was excited to show you her Stevie’s 70’s Dress made using a pattern from Appletotes & Co. It’s also available for your 14-inch friends as well, and I may just have to add that to my collection!
I already own several of Appletotes’ embroidery patterns, so once the embroidery machine learning curve is conquered, I really hope (soon) to be able to share some of their unique creations. Sadly, I already realize that my limitations with my 4″ x 4″ hoop prevent me from being able to buy/embroider Appletotes’ awesome cowboy/cowgirl boots patterns – boo-hoo! Maybe next year I can add a larger machine to my sewing suite?! ;’)

What a cute dress! So many wonderful patterns, so little time!
I have two Berninas (430 and 630) and a Brother — all embroidery machines. I bought the Brother a couple of years ago when my friend and machine embroidery mentor was unable to find a Brother with the larger embroidery field. I located it — the PE 770 — and I had to have one, too. LOL

Sooo true; so many fun patterns – so little time! Yet, I keep accumulating more – LOL! I’m happy for you that @ least you got a 5×7 embroidery machine, Kathy. ;’) I don’t have an embroidery mentor, sadly. I need a ‘stabilizer’ mentor right now.

Oh! More patterns are a given, but at least I’m thinking twice. The machine embroidery options are so enticing, though!
I still need advice with the stabilizers, but I think help abounds online. Seems like I saw a tutorial just the other day, but I don’t remember the details. When I first started machine embroidery, my friend was instructing a monthly embroidery club, and I learned a lot. She grew tired of spending her creative hours planning projects for the class and gave it up. I don’t blame her — but I miss that class.

Sure emb classes would be helpful, but grabbed my machine @ W-Mart on sale, so no classes with that purchase – sigh! I’m beginning to see progress, so will keep trying. Just torn between so many things I want to do & what to do first, but do have quite a stack of dresses to try my hand at selling this Fall once “Hell-a-zona” cools off again – LOL!

Thank you, again, my sweet friend! I see that you’ve more than out-done yourself with your beautiful dress, that amazing vest (know how long cutting all that fringe takes) and those perfect ’70’s shoes – WOW!!! Then there’s your stunning matching messenger bag/shoes – you’re truly a pro sewer, Liana!!! Just wish we could leave comments on their gallery posts.
